A teacher
A great teacher.
When i was at school i enjoyed the "crafting classes" like art or music, but in the third one, the one called, "tecnology" i had a teacher during some years that i think that was if not the best, one of the best that i have ever had. I know the subject of tecnology could not be one of the most important subjects in one student`s life, but that was a hell of a good teacher.
His name is felipe and as I said he was my tecnology teacher during 8º basic to 2 the media. he came after a lot of teachers I had before, three if i´m not mistaken. he was tall, had black hair, and a beard, maybe a little bit stuffy. he used to shout "AL TALLER" every time we had to go to the workshop.
he, unlike the other tecnology teachers that i had before, at the beginning of every progect, he planted us an objective, with practical usefull purposes sometimes, or chalenging problems that required of our ingenuity. The systems and mechanisms had to be thought by us. of course he gave us the tools to do it, like ideas, and help of course. He was reallly creative, and he knew a lot of electric and mechanical systems, and he used his knowledge to make us craft usefull things using our ingenuity. For example, we once had to create something for the homeless to sleep under a ceiling, like a tent, but easy for them to carry and set on a place and to take it of quik.
another time, he made us build a bridge only made of a few sheets of paper wich could carry a bottle full of watter. And also there was a time that he made us build something wich could protect an egg of a three floors falling, only made of newspaper, some cardboard and some cotton.
He inspired me that every practical problem could have a solution, with a little bit of ingenuity, a plan and will to do it so. Whenever i have a problem or a difficulty i first think that I can solve it, and second, how am i suposed to do it. i think i´m going to keep that in mind during my laboral life because because of my job i think i will have the chance to help people with a problem related to the forest. I have found a sollution everytime i had a complication that way.
he inspired me that because of his own ingenuity, and knowlege. those atributes working together are a great combination in every eingenier mind. even mine, despite of being a forest eingeniery student myself.
He had a robotic lego elective class. he won a lot of interscholastic competitions because of it. and also appeared in a newspaper for creating a 3D printer made of wood, nails, some wires and stuff with some kids of his class.
nowdays i think he is not working at my school, but he keeps doing the robotics elective.
